James Gyakye Quayson is currently the target of a perjury case being heard in the High Court of Accra.
He is charged with forgery and perjury in connection with a variety of suspected crimes in the run-up to the 2020 Assin North parliamentary election.
He filed a not-guilty plea to five charges, including deliberately filing a false statutory declaration, lying under oath, and forging a passport or other travel document.
According to the prosecution, Quayson lied to the passport office when he applied for a Ghanaian passport by saying he didn’t have a passport for another country.
