According to the Committee’s conclusions, Dr. K. K. Sarpong is qualified to climb the Wiafe Stool because he is a Royal of the stool. To everyone’s surprise, Otumfuo stated, “3ny3 3hc na asem no nam koraa,” when they were expected him to affirm Asanteman’s support. Instead, he claimed that Dr. K. K. Sarpong was cursed along with Ashyirem Abusuapanin Atta Kwabena. Luckily, the Committee had addressed and unanimously rejected the curse issue.

We have good cause to believe Otumfuo was either unaware of or did not see that portion of the report. It wouldn’t have been necessary to mention it as a new dimension otherwise.

The Committee came to the conclusion that two of the three petitioners who brought up the supposed curse were not even royals of Ashyirem and, as a result, lacked the legal authority to file the petitions. As the Committee concluded, do we have to consider the accusations made by people who didn’t really have a place in the case?

The recommendations of the Kumawuhene’s Committee were unanimously approved during the Asanteman meeting in Council on October 13, 2022, with the support of 21 of the 26 members who cast votes, or more than 80% of the total. Despite Nananom’s petitions being rejected, Otumfuo is oddly employing the curse to prevent Dr. K. K. Sarpong from becoming Offinsomanhene.
