
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed sympathy to the Volta Region residents who were harmed by the spill from the Akosombo Dam.
The president asserts that a catastrophe of this magnitude necessitates government attention, and he will see to it that it is resolved.
President Akufo-Addo stated in his address to the Chief and people of Mepe that he is obligated to assist the populace and that it is not about votes or party allegiances.
“This is a fairly short visit for me. It is to express sympathy and sorrow for the catastrophe that has occurred with you. When it happened, the Chief of Staff contacted me in America while I was there on official business to let me know what had happened, and we talked about what needed to be done.
In order to coordinate the government’s response to the catastrophe, we decided to form an inter-ministerial group, he stated.
