Finally, Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has arrived in Cameroon for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 27-year-old’s dedication to his club caused him to postpone his participation in the Ivory Coast tournament.
Negotiations were conducted between the English team and Onana’s home nation to guarantee his participation in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
After the match, while supporters left Old Trafford, Onana boarded a private aircraft from Manchester and departed for the Ivory Coast, a 4,800-mile flight.
However, the former Ajax goalkeeper won’t be available for Cameroon’s opening AFCON match on Monday, January 15, against Guinea.
Senegal, Guinea, and the Gambia are in Group C of the competition with the Indomitable Lions.
