Ashyirem Royal Gate: Otumfuo is making every effort to prevent Dr. K. K. Sarpong from becoming Offinsohene.

We would like to stress once more that Dr. K. K. Sarpong was chosen and nominated in accordance with Asante customs and traditions, starting with the offering of drinks to Abusuapanin Atta Kwabena and ending with the Queenmother, Kingmakers, and ultimate acceptance and approval.

As per the Asante conventions and traditions, which Otumfuo frequently reinforces, he does not choose or enstool any Omanhene. This is also the essence of the Asante Confederacy, which defends each paramountcy’s unique character. Otumfuo and the Asanteman Council are invited to clear up any ambiguities during the enstoolment process, but they shouldn’t sabotage a procedure that has proceeded flawlessly the entire way.

The fact that Offinsohemaa and her elders are not being helped by Nananom Amanhene in the face of the unwarranted humiliation she is enduring is also cause for grave worry. Nananom could have to realize that if they don’t speak up about their concerns, a same unfair spectacle might occur in their paramouncies.
