It is significant to note that Otumfuo made some unfortunate statements regarding the Offinso Stool Affairs during Asanteman Council sittings. Among other things, there have been unfounded claims made in an attempt to support a path of action he desires to follow. To put it mildly, it can be extremely embarrassing to recount these here. The recordings of the proceedings can be seen for confirmation on YouTube.

It is reasonable to draw the conclusion that Otumfuo is making every effort to obstruct Dr. K. K. Sarpong’s nomination. However, we believe that the Overlord of Asanteman ought to be impartial and fair to the Offinsoman and the Ashyirem Royal family.

The truth is that, given our reverence for Otumfuo, it would have been impolite to question his statements while he was in office. But it is only just that glaring mistakes that infringe upon the rights of Ashyirem royals, notably Dr. K. K. Sarpong, be fixed.

Offinsohemaa, Offinso kingmakers, and Dr. K. K. Sarpong seem to have been the targets of Otumfuo’s policy of intimidation into submission. Is this not against the basic tenets upon which Asanteman was established and constructed? Where is the saying “ka bi na menka bi” found? At all times, Asanteman should treat all of its citizens fairly.

We respectfully implore Otumfuo to let his will triumph rather than pursue a personal grudge against anyone. Rather, justice ought to be served to all people in accordance with his own oath and to honor the Golden Stool.
