The ideal option for Indian students is to apply through the student direct stream, which requires online registration at the CIC’s official website, the submission of biometrics (fingerprints and photos), and a minimum 20-day wait for verification and a decision.

Direct Stream for Students

The traditional way of applying for a normal study permit, on the other hand, allows for both online and paper applications. The eligibility requirements are comparable to those for the student direct stream; however, the screening of applications may take a bit longer.
