Following the earth tremor that was felt in some areas of the capital city of Accra, the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) has urged Ghanaians to maintain their composure.
The GGSA stated that the tremor that was noticed about 09.49am on Friday, March 10, 2023, was a minor one and did not do any harm.
Since they are natural phenomena, they are challenging to forecast. To protect public safety and reduce risk, the Authority is dedicated to regularly monitoring these incidents and providing the public with pertinent information. The Authority is currently working to educate and sensitize the general population about awareness and response during earth tremors. The public is asked to maintain calm and carry on with their regular routines, according to a statement from the Authority.
According to a statement from the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) Agency, the earth tremor had a Richter scale value of 2.8.
According to the Authority, “High Street, Ridge, and certain areas of Accra Central felt the tremor somewhat.
The Authority promised to inform and sensitize the public about awareness and response during earth earthquakes in a statement signed by its acting director general, Isaac Kuuwan Mwinbelle.
