After making his 110th appearance against Switzerland on Thursday, Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew is currently Ghana’s only player with the most appearances for his country.

In a pre-World Cup friendly in Abu Dhabi, the Black Stars defeated the European nation 2-0. The match featured the 2009 U-20 World Cup champion.

The Al Sadd star performed admirably during the entire time. On the other side, the 32-year-old covered a lot of distance while supporting the defence whenever Switzerland attacked, displaying no indications of exhaustion.

Ayew won three ground battles and two aerial battles while completing 89% of his passes (25/28), attempting two flawless long balls, and attempting two long balls.

Additionally, he made two key clearances and one tackle that kept Xherdan Shaqiri from shooting from the edge of the box.

Ayew made his 110th appearance for the Black Stars in this game, making him the player with the most appearances overall for the four-time African champions.

He has eclipsed the legendary Asamoah Gyan, who represented Ghana in 109 matches from 2003 to 2019.

Ayew made his Black Stars debut in 2007. He then led the U20 team to the 2009 World Cup and African Youth Championship victories.

The seventh-highest scorer for the Black Stars all-time and the most prolific active Black Stars player, he has 23 goals to his credit.
