
In the recently concluded Assin North by-election, Eric Ntori, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) director of information and technology, has conceded defeat.
He claims that the opposition National Democratic Congress had won the election over the party.
Mr. Ntori stated: “This election didn’t go well for us but we will go back to the drawing board and snatch the seat in 2024” in an interview with Accra-based Joy TV.
According to preliminary results, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the election.
Along with Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Quayson entered the race.
According to preliminary results from the 99 polling places in Assin North, Mr. Quayson received 17,205 votes, or 57.4% of the total, while Charles Opoku of the NPP received 11,389 votes, or 42%.
