
Customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) can now easily acquire electricity credit with mobile money (MoMo) services or applications.
With this effort, customers will have more convenience and flexibility in controlling their electricity consumption since the credit-buying procedure will be streamlined.
Customers can use a mobile application to purchase ECG credit by simply following these steps:
Get the ECG mobile app here: Get the official ECG mobile app by going to the app store on your device.
Sign up or log in: Enter the necessary information to create an account on the app, or sign in if you already have one.
Access the “Buy Credit” section: Use the app to locate the “Purchase Electricity” or “Buy Credit” area after logging in.
Enter the details of the meter: Enter the quantity of credit you want to buy together with your meter number.
Select a Payment Option: From the list of possibilities, choose the payment method that best suits your needs. Some alternatives include credit/debit cards, mobile money, and other electronic payment methods.
Verify Payment: To complete the buying procedure, review your transaction information and confirm the payment.
The purchased electricity credit will be automatically applied to your meter upon successful transaction completion, enabling you to keep using a continuous power source.
As an alternative, users of the mobile money (MoMo) services provided by several Ghanaian telecommunications carriers can also buy ECG credit. How to do it is as follows:
The USSD code for your mobile money provider should be dialed. For example, *170# for MTN Mobile Money, 71877# for Vodafone Cash, or *500# for AirtelTigo Money.
Choose ‘Buy Airtime & Data’ from the menu: Make your selection from the ‘Buy Airtime & Data’ and ‘Pay Bills’ menu options.
