Because of a coup d’etat that toppled a coup leader on September 30, 2022, Burkina Faso currently has the youngest president on the continent.
Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who had orchestrated a coup against democratically elected Christian Roch Marc Kabore, served as the country’s military ruler from January 2022 until the last day of September 2022.
