Gospel singer Patience Nyarko of Ghana has taken aim at other gospel performers and business people for not agreeing with Nathaniel Bassey’s recent counsel to Ghanaian gospel musicians.
Following criticism from certain Ghanaian gospel performers, such as Celestine Donkor, Patience Nyarko voiced her dissatisfaction with what she saw as inconsistencies in the gospel music community.
Recalling a similar situation from four years prior, she urged her peers to concentrate on singing in their own tongues, stressing that the calling of gospel artists is not about language but rather dedication to their art.
Patience Nyarko questioned the consistency of her fellow musicians, pointing out that when she voiced the same concerns in 2019, she received backlash, including disparaging remarks from media personality Abeiku Santana.
Those who disapproved of her today for not following Nathaniel Bassey’s advise were called hypocrites by her.
The English songs by Ghanaian gospel performers may not even pique the interest of Nigerians, as noted by Patience Nyarko.
