Ethiopia surpasses Tanzania to become the top investment location in Kenya.

The KCB team visited Ethiopia a month after the country’s Council of Ministers made history by sanctioning the opening of its banking system to foreign investment.

The Economic Survey also reveals that Kenya’s overall foreign direct investments over the review period generally showed an upward trend, reaching Ksh239.6 billion ($1.75 billion) at the end of 2021 compared to Ksh93.5 billion ($684 million) at the end of 2015. This is with the exception of 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic caused an 8.4% decline in outward direct investment to Ksh161.1 billion ($1.18 billion), the Economic Survey states.
