CHRISTMAS ON TRIAL—AND CHRIST STILL REIGNS

Every December, a familiar chorus returns—anti-Christmas churches, seasonal critics, and self-appointed guardians of “pure faith” rise to denounce Christmas as pagan, corrupt, or unbiblical.

One wonders: what exactly about Jesus has ever escaped slander, denial, or rebranding? From His virgin birth to His bodily resurrection, nothing sacred about Christ has been spared the scalpel of mockery or the ink of revisionists.

So let us ask—slowly, plainly, and without apology:

If Christmas were truly pagan, why don’t fetish priests celebrate it at their shrines?

Why don’t idol worshippers add it to their ritual calendars?

Why don’t traditional gods demand sacrifices on December 25?

If Christmas were pagan, why do Islamic states and communities so fiercely oppose it? Why ban it, protest it, or attempt to rename it—if it were merely another harmless pagan festival? Do pagans persecute their own feasts?

The answer is painfully obvious: Christmas is not pagan—it is Christological. And Christ has always been a threat to darkness.

THE FIRST CHRISTMAS WAS HEAVENLY—NOT PAGAN

The first Christmas was not invented by Rome, Constantine, or medieval Europe. It was announced by angels and received by shepherds in the wilderness.

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’”

— Luke 2:10–11

And heaven itself erupted:

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

— Luke 2:14

Tell us—since when did angels lead pagan festivals?

Since when did heaven announce idolatry?

THE SECOND CHRISTMAS WAS ROYAL—NOT IDOLATROUS

The second celebration came from the Magi of the East—learned men, kings, scholars—who traversed nations not to worship idols, but to bow before a Child.

They did not consult shrines.

They did not bow to stars.

They did not worship the day.

They fell before the King of kings and Lord of lords.

And yet today, modern critics—armed with blogs but empty of wonder—claim superior insight to angels and wiser theology than the Magi. Really?

SCRIPTURE IS NOT SILENT—ONLY THE SKEPTICS ARE

The prophets spoke clearly:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah… out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel.”

— Micah 5:2

The angel declared His mission:

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

— Matthew 1:21

History recorded the event:

“She gave birth to her firstborn, a son… and laid him in a manger.”

— Luke 2:7

And witnesses multiplied:

Luke 2:7–21 — Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds, Simeon, Anna, and all who were awaiting the consolation of Israel.

This is not mythology.

This is incarnational history.

THE REAL PROBLEM IS NOT CHRISTMAS—IT IS CHRIST

Let us be honest. The world has never had a problem with holidays—it has always had a problem with Jesus.

Jehovah’s Witnesses deny His deity.

Some sects deny His eternal Sonship.

Others spiritualize Him away, historicize Him into irrelevance, or reduce Him to a moral teacher.

And now, Christmas itself must be discredited—because it keeps pointing to Him.

DO NOT BE LIKE THOSE WHO KNEW—BUT NEVER WORSHIPPED

Do not be like the priests and scribes who opened the scrolls, quoted Micah to Herod, and accurately identified Bethlehem—yet never walked the short distance to see the Messiah they preached about.

Do not be like the religious officials who directed the Magi but never joined the worship.

And yes—do not be like the officiating priest in the Temple who held the Messiah in his arms, recited sacred words, yet could not recognize God incarnate standing within his own ritual.

Knowledge without worship is still unbelief.

CHRISTMAS IS A TESTIMONY OF TRIUMPH

The birth of Christ—and His death—divided history itself.

The calendar bends to Him.

Time confesses Him.

BC and AD stand as a global, unerasable witness: Christ conquered paganism, not the other way around.

Empires fell. Idols crumbled. Pagan temples became churches. And still—every December—the world is forced to remember: a Child was born, a Savior was given, a Lord was revealed.

So celebrate—not the day, but the Divine Event.

Celebrate with angels, not critics.

With shepherds, not scoffers.

With Magi, not mockers.

Glory to God in the highest.

Christ is born. Christ is Lord. Christ still reigns.
