Some social media users were surprised to learn from the interview from March 2023 why some parents let their kids use the app yet the CEO of the company has forbidden his kids from using it.

He highlighted in the interview that children under the age of 18 must have adult supervision while using the program.

Chew insisted that having a different app for children under the age of 13 was legally required. He did, however, also say that he wouldn’t relax the ban to allow children to use TikTok.
