Joel Ofori Bonsu, better known by his stage name OliveTheBoy, is a Ghanaian Afrobeats artist and composer who has maintained his political independence.
After the teenage hitmaker’s performance at the opposition National Democratic Congress’ youth manifesto launch at UPSA in Accra on Monday, August 12, he became the target of social media criticism, especially on Twitter.
The singer’s performance and cordial friendship with NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama’s son Sharaf Mahama were interpreted by the critics as an endorsement of the opposition party.
However, the “Goodsin” crooner stated that his attendance at the event was for business and not motivated by political loyalty in an interview with Abeiku Santana that same day on Accra-based Okay FM.
