Socialite Akuapem Poloo has revealed that she is still troubled by the decision she made to upload a naked picture of herself and her son on social media in 2020. On Wednesday, May 22, Akuapem Poloo, real name Rosemond Brown, apologized profusely for the incident during an interview on Accra FM. "My one regret, from my early years to now, is the photo I snapped of my son. Other than that, I'm not sorry. I'm really being haunted by this recollection," she said. "My son is on my mind; he will grow up. He's starting to ask a lot more questions as he grows. As a single mother, I have to get ready for my response so that he will comprehend the scenario in which he is nude and he is standing in front of me, seemingly staring at my nudeness. My only regret is that she continued. Akuapem Poloo squatted naked in front of her son in the contentious picture, which was shared in July 2020 to commemorate her son's seventh birthday. The image provoked a lot of indignation from the general public. As a punitive step to discourage similar crimes, the Accra High Court sentenced her to three months in prison in April 2021. Akuapem Poloo entered a plea of guilty to three counts: publishing pornographic materials; using domestic violence to violate the privacy and integrity of another person; and using domestic violence to violate the dignity of another person. Akuapem Poloo contested the verdict at the Accra High Court after receiving her sentence. She complied with the court's bail requirements, which included providing GH¢80,000 with three sureties and registering her passport at the court registry after spending days in jail. She was later freed on bond while her 90-day jail sentence was appealed. The Appeals Court overturned her jail sentence in December 2021 and substituted a GH12,000 fine. Even after the case was settled in court, Akuapem Poloo's regret for what happened is still a heavy weight.
