Akuapem Poloo contested the verdict at the Accra High Court after receiving her sentence. She complied with the court’s bail requirements, which included providing GH¢80,000 with three sureties and registering her passport at the court registry after spending days in jail. She was later freed on bond while her 90-day jail sentence was appealed.
The Appeals Court overturned her jail sentence in December 2021 and substituted a GH12,000 fine.
Even after the case was settled in court, Akuapem Poloo’s regret for what happened is still a heavy weight.
