Akuapem Poloo squatted naked in front of her son in the contentious picture, which was shared in July 2020 to commemorate her son’s seventh birthday. The image provoked a lot of indignation from the general public.

As a punitive step to discourage similar crimes, the Accra High Court sentenced her to three months in prison in April 2021.

Akuapem Poloo entered a plea of guilty to three counts: publishing pornographic materials; using domestic violence to violate the privacy and integrity of another person; and using domestic violence to violate the dignity of another person.
