As part of her African journey to celebrate her 50th birthday, American actress Gabrielle Union-Wade made history by setting foot on Ghanaian territory for the first time.

The Nkosuohene of Nyame Bekyere gave the “Bring It On” actress the name Akosua Safo when she attended the enstoolment ceremony of Diallo Sumbry, who is currently the Chief of Development of Nyame Bekyere, on October 31, 2022.

Former NBA player Dwyane Wade, the actress’s husband, and their 3-year-old daughter Kaavia James Union Wade both have Ghanaian names: Kwesi Safo and Nana Akua.
