Mark Okraku-Mantey, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, has described an earlier encounter he had with Lord Kenya, an artist who is now a preacher.

According to Okraku-Mantey’s November 23, 2024, Adom TV interview, Lord Kenya is on a list of musicians he regrets collaborating with.

He emphasized that his hard-won reputation was publicly damaged by the artist.

“I have been deeply injured by many of the nation’s musicians, but Lord Kenya’s is the one I will never forget. I slept in the same room as him back then, and I treated him like a brother. I don’t want to get into too much detail since he has previously apologized to me on the radio, but he damaged my reputation to the point where people would come up to me in Kumasi and say, “So you are the one cheating the musicians,” he added.

Even though they were at odds, he also mentioned how the late Daasebre Gyamenah valued his work when he was given an honor.

“Daasebre Gyamenah accepted an award and congratulated me for my effort on stage, even though he was not speaking to me. A few days later, he even made the same statement on Joy FM. However, Lord Kenya accepted an award that same evening and congratulated his parents; in the while, I coded the winning tune. Even while we were making the beat, he wasn’t present,” he continued.
