A police officer who shoved a journalist, Bridget Otoo, on September 21, 2023 in the Accra Regional Police Headquarters has been charged with assault.
She bemoaned the treatment she and others had received, emphasizing that she had just gone to the police station to hunt for a Metro Tv journalist who had been detained and to act as a guarantor for several demonstrators who had been arbitrarily detained.
“I’m not a violent person, I’m not physically powerful, and I doubt I could fight a woman, let alone a man.
“There were numerous issues that troubled me personally and professionally as a writer, therefore I felt compelled to participate in the protests as a concerned citizen. I value freedom of speech so much,” she said on Joy News’ the Probe program on September 24.
