The four-time African champions were defeated 2-0 by Mexico on Sunday, October 15, and then 4-0 by the United States on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The Stars’ subpar results in these games have sparked a lot of questions regarding the team’s overall performance as well as the technical prowess, individual player output, and ratings.

Many football fans believe that in order for Ghana to advance to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros and Madagascar in November, as well as the AFCON 2023, which will take place in Ivory Coast next year, the Black Stars, under coach Chris Hughton, must work even harder.

GhanaWeb examines five players who performed admirably and five who fell short of expectations.

Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew, a forward for Crystal Palace, is one of those players who has captured the hearts of many fans. He is known for working hard and giving it his all when wearing the national uniform.

When Ghana was down 2-0 against Mexico in the 71st minute, Jordan Ayew, 32, was brought on. Jordan completed his quota in less than 20 minutes, showing good skill and earning a rating of 6.5, which made him one of Ghana’s finest players of the day.

The last time Jordan Ayew scored for Ghana was during a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium in September, when the Stars defeated Liberia 3-1. Jordan is still a vital member of the group and will definitely be included in the AFCON squad.
