Update On Ghana Annual Non-Traditional Exports

Exporters brought to the fore concerns such as inadequate time allocated to the repatriation of export proceeds, blocking of subsequent export transactions for non- repatriation of proceeds within 60 day. In accessing repatriated proceeds from commercial banks
Low exchange rates offered by the banks compared with rate applied by shipping services providers, high commission charged by commercial banks and unsustainable of the current form of the LOC for small scale cross border trade were also part as challenges facing their export businesses.
Mr Ackwerh went ahead by saying by air had also complained about the quality of their consignment getting compromised due to the challenges associated with addressing LOC issues.
He also made mention that the chunk of Ghana’s non— traditional exports such as horticulture products, fish, food, beverages, Shea butter, basket and handicrafts exported from Ghana originates from Ghana’s middle belt and parts of northern Ghana with upper West Region was noted for handicrafts,Shea butter, smocks and its products
The participant were expected to appreciate the rudiments of the subject of LOC, understand it’s benefits to exporter and have their concerns addressed as he also said.
