The Akufo-Addo government’s galamsey battle is a hoax, according to the Minority Leader

The report authored by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng also a former Minister of Environment in March 2021 and handed over to the Chief of Staff cited a number of top officials in the Akufo-Addo government accused of either being engaged in galamsey or interfered in the work of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.

Dr. Ato Forson says, government’s action so far is a tacit endorsement of its corrupt appointees.

“It was shrouded in a well-calculated ruse to enable key government officials and functionaries at the Presidency to dabble in the very illicit business of galamsey.”

The Minority Leader is promoting a thorough probe into the allegations in the meanwhile.

 

“The damning report’s revealing issues and a number of others call for a national investigation,” he continued.

A number of senior members of the Akufo-Addo administration were named in the report written by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister of the environment, and submitted to the chief of staff in March 2021. They were accused of engaging in galamsey or interfering with the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining’s work.
