In an interview on Oyerepa TV, Armah stated that he has never seen cocaine in his life and is shocked by the false accusations. “For me, Lawyer Blay Armah, all the allegations being peddled against me, I have no hand in them,” he said, adding that his lawyers will take action.

The Allegations

The controversy began when Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, alleged that an NDC parliamentary candidate was connected to the recent drug seizure. Fordjour claimed that the candidate owned $150 million worth of the seized cocaine. However, Armah has vehemently denied these allegations, stating, “If I had that kind of money, would I still be here? I would have bought an island somewhere.”

The Controversy

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) intercepted 3,319.66 kilograms (3.3 tonnes) of suspected cocaine in March 2025, valued at approximately $350 million. The drugs were cleverly concealed in sacks and bags, hidden within heaps of sand on a tipper truck. Armah has vowed to pursue legal action against those spreading what he calls baseless and damaging rumours.
