“Mensa Otabil Warned: ‘Inaccurate Teachings Won’t Collapse Any Church'”

Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has publicly disagreed with Pastor Mensa Otabil’s assertion that God no longer reveals mysteries to humans.

Owusu-Bempah believes that Otabil’s statement lacks substance and contradicts the fundamental principles of Christianity.

During a sermon to his congregation on Sunday, February 1, 2025, Owusu-Bempah questioned Otabil’s stance, asking, “Does God speak to animals?” He emphasised that as a Bible teacher and leader of the faith, Otabil’s words carry significant weight, and it is essential to correct his misinterpretation of scripture.

Otabil’s original statement was made in November 2024, prior to the general elections, where he argued that God’s revelation is closed and that He is not revealing mysteries to anyone. Owusu-Bempah countered that God still speaks and reveals hidden secrets to mankind, citing the presence of prophets in the church, including Prophet Annoh, who leads a branch of Otabil’s International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).

Owusu-Bempah emphasised that respecting leaders of the faith does not mean agreeing with all their utterances. He cautioned against undermining the ministries of prophets who claim to hear from God, stating that Otabil’s words could be perceived as an attempt to discredit the prophetic ministry.

The disagreement between the two prominent pastors highlights the ongoing debate within the Christian community regarding the nature of God’s revelation and communication with humans. While Otabil’s statement may have been intended to caution against false prophecies, Owusu-Bempah’s response underscores the importance of acknowledging the ongoing role of prophecy and divine revelation in the lives of believers.
