Georgieva will hold high-level discussions with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, and Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, when she is in the country.

The goal of these talks is to set the direction for Ghana’s extended three-year US$3 billion borrowing facility with the IMF.

Important IMF representatives are with Georgieva, including Abebe Selassie, the director of the Africa Department, and Stephane Roudet, the mission chief for Ghana.

A conference on artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the visit’s highlights; it’s set for Monday, March 18, 2024. The conference, held in association with the Ministry of Finance, will explore the topic of “AI as a catalyst to transform economies in sub-Saharan Africa.”
