Among the substances were 315 wraps of marijuana, 242 fertilizer bags of Indian hemp, and several packets of heroin and cocaine.

After the drugs proved positive and were offered as evidence in court, they were destroyed on Thursday in accordance with several court directions.

The Courts’ Registrar, Mr. Prosper Kingsley Damankah, briefed reporters that the drugs were taken between 2019 and 2024 from those who had been charged and were subsequently found guilty.

He claimed that following investigations, they were detained, accused, and brought before the court; following a trial, they were convicted guilty.

According to Mr. Damankah, in 13 different court orders, the drugs were taken from 13 suspected defendants, three of them were female.

He mentioned that Eleven, Nine, Six, and Two circuit courts issued the rulings.

In his breakdown, Mr. Damankah stated that Circuit Court Three had nine judgments, while Circuit Courts Eleven, Nine, Six, and Two each had one.

The majority of the narcotics, according to him, were included in the 242 fertiliser bags that contained dried leaves.

More of these substances, according to Mr. Damankah, had been seized but were awaiting the court’s orders before being destroyed.
