Cecilia Dapaah and her colleagues are being looked into by Ghana’s OSP and the FBI of America.

Along with the investigation already underway by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States has opened one into the actions of former sanitation minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her associates.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the OSP announced this in a post on its X page, formerly known as Twitter.

According to the OSP, Dapaah and her associate’s assets and financial activities in the US will be the main focus of the FBI’s investigation, which will run concurrently with what it is presently doing.

have started parallel investigations into Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s and her allies’ actions, according to the statement. She was the former minister of sanitation and water resources.

It further stated that the FBI’s inquiry attempts to determine if the former minister’s assets and financial transactions between Ghana and the US were legal or not.

“The main objective of these investigations is to look into their assets and financial dealings within the United States of America. This joint effort aims to determine the legitimacy of Ms. Dapaah and her associates’ riches, both in terms of the flow of money from Ghana to the US and vice versa, according to the OSP.

Following a public outcry in July over claims in court documents that Cecilia Dapaah had stored $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Cedis in her home that were taken by her domestic staff and later arrested and brought before a court, Cecilia Dapaah got into issue with the OSP.

Since then, she has been fighting the OSP in court together with her husband, who is also under investigation.
