Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that if elected president, he will work with churches and other stakeholders to finish the National Cathedral project.
The Vice President discussed the National Cathedral issue on Sunday, August 25, and stated that even if public funds have already been invested, it is crucial to consider alternative financing options for the project.
It is the result of public dollars invested in it. In order to determine how best to finish the project, we ought to consult with churches and other interested parties. During a media interaction, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stated, “It is a significant issue.
President Akufo-Addo started the National Cathedral Project as an endeavor to fulfill a promise he made to God.
It is believed that the project has already received funding totaling more than GHC339 million.
Even after spending millions, the project is still far from finished.
Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, the National Cathedral’s Executive Secretary of the Board of Trustees, claims that more money is required to finish the enormous undertaking.
He stressed in March of this year that an additional $200 to $250 million would be needed to complete the work.
