Ashyirem Royal Gate: Otumfuo is making every effort to prevent Dr. K. K. Sarpong from becoming Offinsohene.

Hatched Plot against Dr. K. K. Sarpong in a Leaked Video

A petitioner and others are seen on camera dramatizing the curse plot in an intentional and desperate attempt to validate the absurd curse tag placed on Dr. K. K. Sarpong. For the avoidance of doubt, the video is available on social media and is something we own.

It seems that Otumfuo is holding onto the issues that were created in the film and served as the foundation for the petitioner’s representations to the Kumawuhene’s Committee. Regretfully, there is no denying that Otumfuo’s paternal relatives and lifelong acquaintances are the actors in the film. We don’t want to think that these individuals influenced Otumfuo’s staunch stance in any way.

Unfounded Bribery Allegations
Accusations of bribery have been leveled against the Queen Mother, Kingmakers and elders of Offinso, Dr. K. K. Sarpong and even some Asante Chiefs by Otumfuo at some Asanteman Council sittings. This is unfortunate, and an attempt to give a dog a bad name and hang it. In Akan tradition (Asante inclusive), lobbying is part of the processes in selecting a chief whereby candidates approach Kingmakers and elders to get support.

Whether or not a chief is a kingmaker, it is usual for a candidate to visit him with drinks and boamu ade3 (token cash) in order to ask for support and blessings. It goes without saying that such presentations cannot be seen as bribery. We think that before to rising to their stools, every Asante Chief—including Otumfuo himself—went through comparable procedures. Was this a bribe? Why should Dr. K. K. Sarpong be viewed differently for similar acts? Is that intended to damage his reputation?

We are aware that our Queen Mother is not selling the Wiafe stool; instead, she is appointing Dr. K. K. Sarpong, a very strong royal, to take its place in order to guarantee advancement in Offinso. Dr. K. K. Sarpong’s qualifications, reputation, morals, and standing in Offinso, Beposo, Ghana, and the wider community all speak for themselves. We believe that because of the false accusations of bribery, Dr. K. K. Sarpong has been handled unfairly. We humbly feel that during the process, our respected Asantehene has been misinformed about numerous things.
