A spokesman for Nogokpo said, “Our chiefs accepted bribes to drop the Agyinasare case; I rejected $100,000.”

Recall that in June 2023, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the head of Perez Chapel International, ran afoul of the Chiefs of Nogokpo after referring to the region as the “demonic headquarters of the Volta Region” in a sermon.

The chiefs and people of the area were offended by his remarks, and the man of God was given a 14-day ultimatum to appear before them.

The traditional leaders persisted notwithstanding Archbishop Agyinasare’s later clarification that he was taken out of context.

Despite Agyinasare’s refusal to accept the chiefs’ invitations twice, the National Peace Council was forced to dispatch a delegation to Nogokpo to handle the situation.

A spokesman for Nogokpo said, "Our chiefs accepted bribes to drop the Agyinasare case; I rejected $100,000."
