The Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi was conspicuously missing at the 62nd Independence Day Celebration which was marked at Agogo Collins Senior High School park.
One would wonder why an MP who was not on any national assignment will decide not to attend such an important function but a close source to the MP revealed that, the District Chief Executive of the area, Hon. Francis Oti-Boateng denied the MP the opportunity to read the President Speech at the Independence Celebration and take salute as it was the case last year and that led to the boycott by the MP.
The District Chief Executive or Municipal Chief Executive at every District represents the President and therefore the carrier of the President Speech on any Independence Day Celebration but in the case of Asante Akyem North Constituency, the DCE, Hon. Francis Oti-Boateng succumbed to the undue pressure from the MP and allowed him to read the President Speech at the 61st Independence Day Celebration and for that reason the MP thought it will be a yearly ritual for him to have that honour.
Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi was disappointed this time around as the DCE stood by his words not to allow him read the President’s Speech which generated a heated argument between the two and subsequently led to the boycott by the MP.
Our source revealed the Hon. MP was at the comfort of his home whilst such a National event took place.
