When her team defeated Namibia at full time to secure their spot in the competition the following year, Nora Hauptle was seen sobbing.

Having previously guided Switzerland to the U19 European Championship semifinals, the Swiss coach will thus be guiding at her first senior competition.

Ghana defeated Namibia 3-2 overall to secure their spot in the 2024 WAFCON. This was true even though the Black Queens fell short on Tuesday afternoon in Pretoria, falling 1-0 in the second leg of the championship round qualifiers.

However, Hauptle’s team prevailed overall after winning the first leg 3-1 at home on Friday.

Ghana’s start to the match was unsteady as they let up a goal in the 22nd minute as a result of some subpar back-row defense.
