The party rank and file promptly shared the #WeAreNPP hashtag, some of them with the NPP logo and others with some sort of government accomplishment, including the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

Just one hour after it was introduced, the hashtag was being used for something completely unrelated to what the party had intended.

Users of social media, particularly those on Twitter (now X), rapidly began using the hashtag, although they accompanied it with some government failure, such as lousy roads, poor drainage, abandoned projects, broken promises, etc.

The #OccupyJulorbiHouse hashtag, which had been trending since September 21, when the first of a three-day anti-government protest got under way, was also used by a significant number of the hijackers.

In addition, the government was charged with using online BOTs to promote #OccupyJulorbiHouse versions such as #OccupyJulorbiHouse, #OccupyJulorbiHouse, #OccupyJulorbiHouse, and #OccupyJuborliHouse throughout the demonstration.

#WeAreNPP’s appropriation by activists looks to be a form of retaliation. Known public figure Efia Odo, a socialite who attended the three-day demonstration, has joined.
