Margaret Dery, the lady who won Miss Ghana 2017 has officially resigned as a beauty queen. She says she’s no longer interested in the crown and has in an email sent to the organizers, Exclusive Events Ghana told them she’s no longer interested in the crown.
The report of her resignation was first published on Myjoyonline. com and according to their story, Margaret Dery had tried some months ago to relinquish the crown but was persuaded by her family not to.
The main reason for her resignation is unclear but from Tweets, she posted some days ago on her Twitter, it’s clear she’s pissed off with the organizers and has lost interest in the crown. She described the Miss Ghana beauty pageant as a sham and said being a beauty queen was the worst experience of her life.
Myjoyonline.com also reported that reliable sources have disclosed that there was a meeting between her and the organisers in a last attempt to salvage the sour relationship between them. However, the meeting could not save the situation.
A recent commissioning of a water project and donation to the Babuli Witch Camp in Gushegu in the Northern region raised eyebrows after Margaret Dery was conspicuously missing from the event.
That event, which was an initiative of Miss Ghana 2012, was rather attended by Afua Asieduwaa Akrofi, who was also the 1st runner-up at the Miss Ghana 2015 pageant.
In Ghbase. com bid to confirm from Exclusive Events Ghana and get a reaction on the story, we were given a blunt response; “WE CAN’T COMMENT ON THE STORY”.
Meanwhile, Exclusive Events Ghana will be launching Miss Ghana 2018 on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
