Several Presidential appointees will ‘soon go home’ – Kweku Baako hints

Seasoned Journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has hinted the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will soon lay off several Presidential appointees.

Kweku Baako made this shocking revelation on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Wednesday.

According to him, some of the Presidential appointees lacked discretion and would have their issues dissected in the media when there are proper avenues for their cases to be heard without any interference by the media.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, the seasoned journalist cautioned the appointees to zip their mouths and wisely refer their issues to the appropriate State authorities.

“Those Presidential appointees who, when they have problems, they rush to the media and put their case forward . . . They’re not helping the government and for that matter the President. If there are problems between people who are in government manning different institutions of State and you have difficulties, but cannot refer your case to the appointing authorities or (lieutenants) the appropriate agencies . . . is not to the credit of the system. I wouldn’t say people should be silent. Silence is not always golden but they have to be careful," he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.

In view of the indiscretion on the part of those appointees who Kweku Baako strongly declined to reveal their identities, he however volunteered information that "several people will very soon go home to think about themselves. It is bound to happen”.
However, he alluded to a comment made by host of the show, Kwami Sefa Kayi that heads of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Energy Ministry's recent encounter as well as the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company issue were examples of what was happening.

The Board Chairman of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Tongraan Kugbilsong Nanlebegtang, announced recently that the TOR Board of Directors has no plans of converting the refinery into a tank farm contrary to assertions made by the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko in the United States of America.

During a meeting at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held in Houston, Texas, Mr Agyarko announced that plans were underway to convert the distressed Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) into a tank farm.

Also at the beginning of this month, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited (GCMCL) Frances Essiam denied claims of awarding several contracts worth millions of Ghana cedis without recourse to the company’s board.

Her denial comes in the wake of a letter from the company’s board warning her to stay off the disbursement of a GH¢5million stimulus package sought by the government for the company.
